Volunteer Information
We are want YOU to share your special skills and talents with us to help survivors. Check out the spectrum below, and let us know how you think you can help!
One of the quickest (and easiest) ways to support our mission is to become one of our social media allies. Social media allies help HAVEN by continuously liking, sharing and engaging with HAVEN’s social media posts. Click here to learn more about social media allyship.
You can also put your own, creative spin on helping HAVEN with survivor supportive deeds such as donating frozen meals for shelter residents, adopting a survivor and their family for Christmas, or partnering your local business with HAVEN. Click here to learn more about survivor supportive deeds.
Clerical and office maintenance volunteers help our operation run smoothly by doing simple tasks like shredding files, preparing/distributing fliers, cleaning shelter spaces, washing/drying shelter bedding.
Digital marketing volunteers are a valuable asset to HAVEN’s mission. Content creators and web designers can volunteer their talents to help us improve our social media reach, as well as our website design.

Special events and fundraising volunteers assist with community information tabling, agency fundraisers, and special projects. We welcome new ideas and perspectives and we always need extra hands on deck to help us pull off our events!

Community outreach volunteers work with our Community and Systems Advocate to offer educational programs and outreach efforts the community. Community outreach volunteers are not required to take the full domestic violence and sexual assault training, although we strongly encourage it. It is important for community outreach volunteers to be comfortable speaking to various sized groups of people and interacting with the public in a positive manner.

Hotline volunteers help staff our 24-Hour Hotline by providing crisis counseling, advocacy, support, and referrals to adult and youth victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, and sexual abuse. Hotline volunteers are required to make a minimum one-year (two semester) commitment that includes three hotline shifts per month. Comprehensive training is provided. All hotline advocates must complete HAVEN’s full domestic violence and sexual assault training, and are subject to background checks and must submit clearances.

Direct service volunteers have the opportunity to work one-on-one with survivors. Direct service volunteers work in-office or as on-call volunteers for evening and weekend emergency advocacy. Comprehensive training is provided. All direct service volunteers must complete HAVEN’s full domestic violence and sexual assault training, and are subject to background checks and must submit clearances.
